Mass Messaging System

Welcome to the Kent Washington Stake’s Mass Messaging System (MMS) home page. Listed below are the detailed instructions for successfully registering your text-capable mobile device and email address with this system. MMS was initially developed for Seminary, but may be used in all stake organizations (with SP approval).

Note: this mobile number is for texting (SMS) only; no voice calls are accepted.

In order to register your mobile device with MMS, you will need to send a SINGLE (1) text message that looks like the following (Seminary is the target group – please be sure to hit the <return> key after each piece of information requested for this submission (not the SEND (↑) key!)):

Here are the details concerning valid values and the abbreviations used above:

Register – this is the MMS command to execute (register a user)
Seminary – this is the keyword that will associate your information with the Seminary Program (other keyword options will come in the future) – type this in as-is
SL – this is the youth’s seminary class… SL is the short code for Brother and Sister Slater’s class; other valid codes include GM (Gealta/Metler), LK (LeDosquet/King), JJ (Johnson/Johnson), BQ (Broadbent/Quigley), and HG (Heninger, early morning)
Belinda – this youth’s first name
McKenzie – this youth’s last name
bmckenzie@gmail.com – this youth’s email address (note: to specify an email only notification, add a leading ! point to the email address as in !bmckenzie@gmail.com)
11/6/2003 – this youth’s birthday – the correct format is MM/DD/YYYY; MM = numeric month, DD = numeric day, YYYY = 4 digit year; use a forward slash in between each part of your birth date (no spaces please)
F – Gender designation short code… F = female, M = male (use short code F or M)
CL – Ward designation… CL is the short code for Clark Lake; other valid codes include CW (Crestwood), SB (Spanish Branch), LM (Lake Meridian), LS (Lake Sawyer), PO (Park Orchard), and SH (Scenic Hill)
KL – high school designation… KL is the short code for Kentlake; other valid codes include AM (Auburn Mountainview), KA (Kent Mountain View Academy), KM (Kent-Meridian), KR (Kentridge), KW (Kentwood), HS (Home-Schooled), and OL (Online)
2531113333 – this is an OPTIONAL value only used when the registration being sent is for another student whose cell phone is not the one being used for the registration (using your phone to register another person) – please do not include dashes, spaces, periods, parenthesis, etc. (numbers only)

ADULT leaders and parents do not need to send the same information as the youth – here is a sample text message for an adult:

The above is self explanatory except for the position code. TC is for Teacher; other valid short codes are LD (Leader), PR (Priesthood Rep), and PG (Parent or Guardian).
